Clearing Address Bar!!

Guest

I am in need of help with clearing my history. I know how
to go to tools, internet options, clear out the cookies
and internet files and the history, but if for example
you type in "g" a link
like "games.com/foldername/file.html" or some specific
links stay from the site, but other would clear out. Is
there any way to get rid of these links when typing out
the first few letters to it? No matter what I do!! It
won't go away. Thank you.

Hi :)

When the dropdown opens, put your cursor on the line that you don't want and
hit the delete key.

then do the following.

Clear TIF Files
The temporary files only holds so many files, so perhaps you might try
clearing the Temporary Internet Files and History.

Tools | Internet Options | At the Temporary Internet Files click on Settings
| View Files tab | Edit | Select All \ click Delete key, then click OK.
Click Clear History on the main window, then close out.

Hope this helps.

I tried doing all of those. The delete key part doesn't
work for some reason! And the clearing TIF and History
doesn't work either. I've tried going to History>Search
and type in the first few letters of the sites as well,
and tried to delete them from there, but they won't. I'm
guessing the problem is around there. I've looked in so
many folders to see where these files could be stored at
but can't find them anywhere! It's horrible.

Hi :)

Try the information below and see if it will help.

Microsoft Windows users running Microsoft Internet Explorer can delete their
history files by clicking "Tools", "Internet Options", and clicking the
"Delete Files" button. Users also have the option of automatically deleting
files each time the close the browser window by clicking the "Advanced" tab
and checking "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed"
under the "Security" section.

- If that does not work, then you do the following to clean your system of
any scumware that may be lingering and causing the problem.

It is likely you have parasites, spyware, adware, malware, or hijackware on
your system causing the problem, which your antivirus will not detect, as it
does not have the same definitions. Download and install, then you *MUST*
update the programs prior to running to be sure they have the latest
definitions, then run the programs below. They are free and very effective.
Be sure to run both SpyBot and Adaware, as what one does not detect the
other may. It is important that you do all the steps and follow all
directions carefully:

You can go to the links below to check your system for parasites
http://aumha.org/a/noads.htm
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/parasite.htm

IMPORTANT:
Before trying to remove spyware, download a copy of LSPFIX from
the URL below - some malware may kill your internet connection when it is
removed, this program will enable you to regain your connection.
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

It is important that you run the programs in the order that they are listed
here. The first three programs will clear your machine of all other items so
that you can have a clear HiJackThis Log for the experts to read and analyze
for you.

(NOTE: If you can not download these programs from the Internet, if your PC
has CD read capabilities, go to another computer with CD-ROM burning
capabilities. Create a folder on the hard drive of the other computer called
HOLD, download the programs to that folder, then burn that folder to a CD.
Copy the HOLD folder to your HD and then install the programs from there
and run them. After you have IE access again, update all programs where
possible to get the latest definitions and run them again to be sure there
are no lingering items on the system.
