Clearing Address bar entries

P

Paul

I've tried to clear address bar entries but the old
entries are still there.

I've tried clear history, delete files, registry entries
delete, tweekui as well as Temporary and History folder
delete.

Any ideas...

Thx

Hi,
These entries might be in the registry in a TypedURLs key:
157729 - How to Clear the History Entries in Internet Explorer:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q157729
For an easier, safer removal method, go to
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
and download "DelTypedURL." This INF file will remove ALL entries.

These two freeware programs will remove SOME or ALL entries:
IE Address Bar Editor: http://www.freesoft.fsnet.co.uk/ieedit01.htm
EditURLs: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/index.htm

You might need to delete the History folder to remove these URLs- a new
History folder will be created on restart.
See: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
If using WinXP or Win2k, make sure that you're deleting the affected History
folder- not one belonging to another user.

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder in Windows 9x,2K, XP.

Hope this helps,
Don

You can also clear the drop down list by right-clicking
on the Start button, choose properties|Start Menu
Tab|Customize button|Advanced Tab|Clear List button in
the Recent documents (NOT PROGRAMS) section. Just be
aware that this will clear your recent documents list.
Not a big problem as far as I'm concerned.
