Clear "replied" status of an email message.

I'm using Outlook 2000 on windows 2000.
I received an email and started writing a reply. Before finishing, I
decided I did not want to reply yet, and deleted the reply before sending.
The original email sent to me is still in the Inbox, but now it shows up as
having been replied to. When I open the message in it's own windows it says:
"
Follow up
You replied on 7/5/2005 1:31pm. Click here to find all related messages.
"
If I click there, no other messages are found (because no reply was ever
sent).

#1. This sounds like a bug to me. Is it a known issue and/or is it fixed
in newer versions of Outlook?

#2. Is it possible to manually clear the replied (and/or forwarded) message
status (if so, does it matter whether a reply was ever actually sent)? It
might also be useful to be able to manually change a message's status to
replied without having to actually write a reply (can always do a "dummy"
reply to achieve that, so clearing the flag is obviously much more important.

1) Not a bug, you started your reply and this reply got saved to the Drafts
folder after x minutes. You deleted this message but the link already has
been created. The same is true when you delete an already send message from
the Send Items folder.

2) Not possible through the interface. You might be able to do it
programmatically.
