clean installation will erase all data

I am getting ready to install Windows XP Professional X64 Edition over the
latest XP Professional 32 bit version with all the updates installed. Does
the "clean installation will erase all data" on CD instructions mean it will
clear all existing programs and data files?

That's usually what "Clean Installation" means. It will ask you to format
the HD, and then install your new windows version. Make sure you backup
what you want to keep, otherwise, it's going down like the Titanic.

when reformatting any pc all the origonal xp will be erased[well a tiny
amount of data from the origonal xp is stored on your pc,this will not harm
your new instalation]i sujest you put all your pics, music etc files on to
disk b4 you start your new instalation or you will loose all these on re
xping your pc,
