I used it for about three months, then went back to AVG Free because of
the way it interacts with Outlook 2003. If you drag a note to the
desktop ClamWin causes a fault when you go to close it. On the plus
side, the daily updates and simplicity of use make it very desireable.

=== it is quite good, but only runs when asked, not all the
time.......... good for a "backup" scanner===

I've been using it for about 6 months on one of our Win2k boxes. I
really can't vouch for how it does other to say that:

1) Scanning can be scheduled or run manually...there is no "real-time"
option
2) It has caught a few viruses (from email attachments)
3) This Win2k box is "clean" as reported by on-line scanners
4) It's somewhat slow (taking ~25-35% longer than Norton eg)
5) It's open source
6) It's beta

Based on all of the above, I not only can live with it, I prefer it.

I have been using ClamWin for nine months and I love it. It sold me
initially when it caught several items AntiVir had been missing, and
AntiVir is supposed to be one of the best. The updates are frequent
and comprehensive. I don't mind scanning files manually since that way
I know for sure that it is getting done. However, there is a Firefox
extension which will automatically scan everything you download with
that browser, and I suppose they must be working on one for Thunderbird
as well.

Does ClamWin have a right-click menu item that allows one to scan an
individual downloaded file on demand? Thanks.

Don't see it on the site- is there a no-install version? There was in
an earlier version.

Clamwin doesn't do on-access scan...
