CHINESE FONTS

Guest

I am tutoring some Chinese students and they have Professional XP and I would
like to be able to install the Chinese fonts and also use the English. I
read a lot of the questions but it is still confusing. I would like to try
it on my computer which also uses Professional XP and would like to use the
different fonts with English and Chinese for email, Word, etc.

Where can I get step by step instructions how to use them. I do not want to
screw up my system.

Thank you.

1. Open XP's "Help and Support Center".
2. In the Search box type: ASIAN , and hit enter.
3. Click on the topic titled: "Install East Asian language files".

Mary,

From the control panel select "Regional and Language Options".

From the Languages tab enable "Supplemental Language Support". At the very
least you have to select the second check box for "East Asian Languages".
If you don't enable the right-left support it will not create a problem but
I normally turn it on. This will require a reboot if I recall and the WinXP
Disk.

Then press the details button on the same tab. On the right you can add
Chinese language support, you will need to decide if you want the simplified
(PRC) or traditional fonts (Taiwan). There is also choices for input
method.

After that most any MS product will support Chinese from the IME. Note
notepad text will have to be saved as UNICODE.

Regards,
John

The information you gave me does not bring up Install East Asian Language
Files but I will go to the web site you gave me.

Thank you.
