Checking E-Mail via VPN

Hi everyone:

I have a VPN connection to a company server. Can I connect
to the Exchange Server and check my E-Mail??

Any suggestions how to remotely check E-Mail on an
Exchange2000 Server by agents in the field via Internet?

Any help will be appreciated.
