Changing Registered To: on XP Home 2002

I bought a used Compaq Presario desktop PC 4403US and I
and under 'My Computer', 'Properties' the Registered To:
says the old owner. How do I change it?

Hi Lee.

you can change that information but it requires you go into the registry
here is a link to tweak xp http://www.tweakxp.com/display.aspx?id=1724 it
tells you what keys in the registry key hold that information.

if you are not comfortable with editing the registry Im sure you could get
someone to edit it for you

To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can use
Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization
