Changing Parent Directory

Nicole McCain

Hello,
I need some help. My parent directory when I go to command prompt is C:\, and I want it to be C:\Documents and Settings\Name.Notebookname (not the actual values.

I tried doing CD \Documents and Settings\Name.Notebookname
and it gives me "too many perimeters -- AND"

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Theres a couple of ways to do it.
But in order not to make a global change to your system, i think it would be
easier and safer to make a desktop shortcut.

Right click on the desktop and create a shortcut.
Then in the next window type in the following
%SystemRoot%\system32\cmd.exe -help.exe
close and name it whatever you want.

Now right click on that shortcut and select properties and goto shortcut tab
you will see the command line above in the target field

now goto start in and type something like this:
C:\Documents and Settings
close and try it out.
I think you can probably tune it some afterwards....

I got the idea from Ramesh, MVP and he has a site that has alot of neato
little tweaks......
