Changing how Users Log On

My machine has 3 user accounts (all admins) but upon logging on, it defaults
to 1 account, forcing me to log off of it and then log onto the correct
account. I have the options selected to "Use the Welcome Screen" but it
still defaults to the one account.

Go to Start -> Run and enter the following in the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK and put a check mark in the box next to "Users must
enter a user name and password to use this computer". Restart
your computer and see if you get the desired results.

Good luck

Thanks for your response. I guess I should also add that I upgraded to XP
Pro from Win2000. During the install of 2000, I originally selected the
"Always assume this user is logged on" option, and as a result I am always
logging directly to that account. I tried your suggestion, but because I had
previously changed the name of that account name, I get a popup telling me
that it couldn't log me on and to make sure the username is typed correctly.

But thanks again for your help.

You lost me on that one. The suggestion I gave should have
resulted in your seeing the Welcome Screen the next time you
started your computer. You'd then be able to click on the icon
for the user account you wanted to logon with. The fact that
you changed to name of a user account shouldn't make a
difference here.

What exactly happens now when you start your computer?
