Changing from Domain to Workgroup

OK, corporate gave us a new server and set it up as a NEW workgroup.

WinXP Pro desktop users are to change from the Domain to the workgroup.
There's no problem doing that, but.....

1) How to get EVERYTHING in their old domain-profile into their new
workgroup-profile? Does just copy from old-to-new work? (especially Outlook
PSTs)

2) Is a tool or utility to do this?

Use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. It's a part of the XP install.

According to what the Wizard dialog it is for transfer between
computers, over a PC-to-PC serial connection.

I am having to transfer files and settings ON THE SAME PC, from one
Domain Profile to a Workgroup Profile.

This is because I've been directed to have users comply with logon
user-name conventions set by corporate; therefore, for some users,
their Workgroup profile will have a different folder-name and I need a
SAFE way to get ALL the data in their old profile to their new
profile. What I worry most about is all the settings in their profile
data files for programs they run, especially for our software
engineers. Like those under:

"C:\Documents and Settings\user-name\Application Data"
"C:\Documents and Settings\user-name\Local Settings"

Just a list of what is safe to copy from their old profile to their
new profile would be OK (like their Desktop, My Documents). I suspect
there MAY be a problem with Registry entries referring to the original
profile.

I already know about the trick with Office Outlook PST files (rename
the "old" ones, user launches Outlook which creates the "new" PST
files, they open the "old" PST to get their old emails, addresses,
etc).

One note about the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. I tried this
before when I upgraded PC for users. It wants a crossover (special
cable) PC-to-PC serial connection (COM). Does anyone know of a 3rd
party version that works over LAN?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
