Changing default from .bmp to .jpg

How can I change saving pictures from default .bmp files
to .jpg files? When I try to save the file, .bmp is
the 'only' selection - even if the internet pic is
a .jpg I'm using XP

In Internet Options, delete your temporary internet files and it will work.

Clear your temporary internet files and then try again.

Clear out Temporary Internet Files (including offline content).
Control Panel|INTERNET OPTIONS|Delete Files button

Basically, you need to clean up your temporary Internet files.
