Change start and end times/dates independently in Outlook 2003

When I change the start date of a multi-day event in my calendar, Outlook
keeps the duration of the event the same and adjusts the end date to fit,
which is inconvenient when I'm really trying to shorten or lengthen the
event. The same problem occurs when changing start or end times in Calendar
or Tasks. Isn't there some way to "freeze" one of the times/dates while you
change the other one?

I don't think so. Outlook gives precedence to the duration, assuming that
if you reserved a particular block of time, that you'll still want that much
time if you're changing the start time, or so it seems to me.
