Change "Internet format" Property in Bulk

Hello:

Is there a way to change the "Internet format" email address setting for all
addresses in the Contact list? This is the setting you get if you double-click
an address to get "Email Properties." I need to change them from "Send using
Outlook Rich Text Format" to HTML. Perhaps there is a script I could run?

BACKGROUND: I have an office with 20 users all using Outlook 2002. They are
getting many recipients complaining about the winmail.dat issue. This is
apparently addressed by using something besides RTF. I will upgrade all clients
to Outlook 2003 but my understanding is that the entries in the Address Book
need to be adjusted manually.

Many thanks.

thank you Peter. It looks like a very useful tool. However, I cannot determine
which field to change. Do you have any ideas?

You can try to use EditContacts http://www.marchert.de/software.html#ec

It is just a beta version, but should do this job fine. Perhaps you
make a backup of your contacts before running it.

I´m sorry, the field you need is not currently avaiable.

But give me 2 days and I will add this field. I will post here again if
the new version is ready.

Wow! That would be great! Thanks. (danke?) <- That`s correct

Here is the second beta 0.1.1: http://www.marchert.de/software.html#ec

I added a field group called "All E-Mail Formats".

But it is not possible in Outlook zu set HTML-Format. To use HTML-
Format you have to choose the option "Let Outlook....". In the program
this option is called "Autodetect". To force this option you should
use the action "Overwrite", so it will not be checked what option is
currently set.

Before changing all contacts it is recommended to uncheck the option
"Confirm all changes" on the option tab.

Special thanks to Michael Bauer for his example to change the internet
format (http://www.vboffice.net/sample.html?mnu=2&smp=32&cmd=showitem)
which saved me a lot of time.

Peter, I really can't thank you enough for this. I will test it out. My hunch
is that you just saved me hours of mind-numbing searches through many Contact
lists.

Again, many thanks.
