I got suckered into fixing something.
We have a laptop running Win XP Pro SP2 that was originally networked to a
domain at the motherbase. The laptop user came over to a friend's company
and for some reason switched over to the workgroup there. The laptop user
now needs to connect back to the domain account to access files in the client
side cache (csc) (for offline file usage). For some reason, we can't access
these offline files from any local account. We get this "This file could not
be found" error while trying to open any given file. The real crock is that
you can see every single file within the Offline Files Folder. You just
can't open them or copy them somewhere else!!!
Is there a way to trick the laptop to think that it is still part of the
original domain? Attempts at switching from the workgroup to the domain fail
with that "A domain controller for the domain could not be contacted" error.
O ya, the motherbase is in Australia and the laptop is in Michigan.
Thanx in advance!
