CDROM jumpers

I have an old Samsung SC 148F CDROM drive, which may need to be
re-jumpered as I'm adding an ATA drive to the cable. There are 3 pairs
of pins on the back of the device. The trouble is that there are no
markings on the CDROM drive to tell me which are the master jumper,
slave or CS pair of pins.

Does anybody actually know how to identify which pair equate to the
above positions..

There is a manual here, but it might not be the right one.

http://www.samsung.com/download/Fil...code=1301&model=SC-148F&filetype=UM&language=

That short document shows:

C S M
S L A

and that is looking at the connector on the back of the
drive. On some drives, the legend is stamped into the
metal on the drive casing. It is possible you might also
see some labelling on the PCB material. I think I own
one drive that has nothing on it, so it does happen.

Even if it's the wrong manual, that's by far the most common
jumpering for any drive, worth a try before spending any
more time researching anything else.

Many thanks for that. When I went to Samsung's website yesterday, I
was unable to find this.link.
