cdrom drive could not read cd

Hi all. My cdrom drive could not read a working cd. Device manager state that
the cdrom drive is working fine. I tried system restore to an earlier date
where the drive could work but to no avail. What can i do? Thks in advance.

:> the "head" is actually a lense the laser is focused thru ....be careful
trying to clean it
