CD RW Editing

New PC has CD RW Drive & no floppy drive. Last computer (with OS 98
when insertine new CD, gave option of using CD as a drive like floppy
Had hoped to use CD likewise in new PC. However, when saving data on
CD RW disk, I find the file is Read Only and I can't make any change
(other then clearing CD) What do I do to make the file Read Write
There is certain data I do not want to maintain on hard drive bu
maintain in CD

Robert, in order to do that you will need software such as DirectCD or
InCD. Roxio and Nero. These allow you to use
the Cdrw Media like a Floppy.

You normally need to format the CDRW first to ensure it acts like that good
old floppy disk!

Are you using any 3rd party software to write to CDs? Such as Roxio or Nero
which are two most popular ones around. I wouldn't touch anything else!

Once files are recorded to a CD, they always become "Read Only".
CD-ROM = Compact Disc - Read Only Memory.
In order to modify a file recorded to a CD, you must
copy the file from the CD to the hard drive, make your
desired changes, then record the modified file back to
the CD.

Nero is an example of a third-party recording program
that supports packet writing:

You could try reading the replies from the post you made yesterday
dealing with this same subject.
