Using Window Vista Premium
I have had this machine less then a week. I was installing high quality
software like quicken, and HP Solutions. On computer restart, I notice that I
do not see a drive letter for any of my DVD burners or CD-rw even the one on
the original GATEWAY. The message I get in device manager is an explanation
mark and message is "window could locate CD-rom drivers or drivers have
become corrupt error 39.
I followed the method 2 on Microsoft Knowledge of uninstalling the drives
and letting device manager action look for hardware.
I do not feel confident editing my registry.
Has anyone one a solution that does not require loading from the non working
CD/DVDs.
