My sister purchased a new Kodak all-in-one printer last week and installed it on her HP Media Centre
running Vista Home Premium. After doing so she could not play music CD's or DVD's nor would any other software
disks run. Upon doing some digging with my coaching she discovered that the DVD-RW had disappeared from
Windows Explorer and the Computer folder. However, it did show up in Device Manager but with a minus beside
it. I had her try a few suggestions found in this News Group but with no joy. Finally she took it to a big box
store and paid a tech to fix it. When she asked what he had done do solve the problem he told her he had
removed the High and Low filters from the Registry. Is this a plausable cure or just a story for an
unsuspecting customer?
