cd rom reading dvd but not music cd

HELP! My cd rom seems to only want to play dvd's. It was workin gyesterday
and all of a sudden it just stopped playing cd's. Any idea why????????????????

The CD laser died? The DVD side uses its own laser.

thanks! that's what I thought. I guess I have to buy a new cd drive? correct?
What would you recommend? It is obviously a dual. I guess I have to buy
another dual?

All/most DVD drives are dual units. They all should be able to read CDs and
DVDs staight out of the box.
