CD ROM no longer working

I have an IBM Thinkpad i Series with Win2000 Pro.
Everything was working fine until I tried to use a Plextor
CD Burner. I installed the software to use the USB
Plextor Plexwriter. I looked in device manager after I
couldn't get the writer to work and noticed that the
burner and the cdrom had the yellow exclamation icons next
to them. I stopped and disconnected the USB device, but I
can't get the system to recognize my cdrom. I've removed
it from device manager and rebooted. Still the yellow
exclamation. It shows up in device manager as TEAC CD-224-
E. This message is in driver details: "This device is not
working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers
required for this device. (Code 31)". I've tried
searching google for another driver, but cannot find
a .inf file, only .sys files. I've also tried booting
with "the last known good configuration". What else can I
try? Any help is appreciated! Thanks...
