CD-ROM Drive Use Crashes Computer - Very Wierd

This is kind of crazy, but...

I have an "old" computer that I turned into a server.

It has:

AMD 64 3200+
2GB OCZ Dual Channel DDR400
OCZ 540W PowerStream Power Supply ($160 PSU)
Soltek Socket 939 MB with VIA Chipset
ATI X800XT AIW

Usually this is my server but my other computers all have a PCI-E GPU
in them.
MY AIW is AGP so I have to keep it in the server.
I don't own a TV and my wife and I LOVE football.
Therefore we need to find a way to watch football using the AIW while
not on a server OS.

Sooo... here's the start of the problem:

1) I put in an IDE HDD so I could install XP Pro on it for the AIW.

2) Booted up the install disc for XP and after 5 attempts of the
computer crashing during CD-ROM access I decided to install the OS on
another system.

3) I installed the OS on another system and ran SYSPREP to Reseal the
installation.

4) I transferred the installation back onto the server and did
updates/installs of everything I needed.

5) I tried using the CD-ROM and a few seconds later I got just a black
screen.

Note I have two CD-ROM drives in the computer, one is a CDRW/DVD and
the other a CDRW/DVDRW.
Both are basically brand new and never had problems before.

I just can't understand why they are causing the system to crash...
they are a master and slave combo on their own IDE drive. The HDD is
on it's own IDE channel. Any ideas?

Problem with the secondary IDE header? Try the cd plugged in as slave on
the Primary IDE cable.
