CD Player (Audio CD) skips through all tracks

My CD Device will operate programs and probably games if I had them, but.....

I am having problems with the CD Player (Audio CD) - When I hit PLAY it will
skip through all tracks, stopping one each for about .5 seconds, one at a
time to the end and stop.

I purchased the computer from a "Computer Specialists" place which is now
out of business. It is a "PUT TOGETHER" couputer, and I'm without
manufacturer names or anything that points to where I can find the missing
files. It says TKC/EP CD-812 under Properties.

I purchased and have just installed Microsoft Windows XP on my old computer
because some other files were corrupt.

I thought this might enable my CD Player to work also.....

Now at least I get an error message ID # C00DOFBO: The CD drive settings in
Device Manager do not match the CD drive settings in the player.

I found the reply below, followed it:

...."That error means that WMP will be unable to copy audio based upon the
current settings for that drive. Under Tools>>Options>>Devices you will
find the settings. Click on Properties for that drive, you will get the
option to specify analog or digital recording. Switch to whichever is not
in use and try again...."

A message came up saying that I was wrong and had me change the settings back.

It seems that I am missing a file or something.

Please help if you can.

Check Event Viewer and Device Manager for errors and or non-starting devices
also check the hardware manufacturer's web site for the latest Windows XP
driver for your device.
