cd cant burn but can play

I have a lite-riter and I can play audio cds and install programs, but I it
will not burn files, when I click on
the rite drive it says the drive is not accessible.?

what can i do. I have XP 2400 xp chip and a mucho memory. using audigy
soundcard,.
