Hi,

JVC DV Cam Model GR-520U

I use WMM to download video from the above camcorder. Since of late, the
downloading stops in about 3 minutes, and an error code indicates "one of
your devices are unplugged". After this WMM or My computer does not even show
the cam as being connected. When I power off and power on the cam again, it
works for anothe 3 minutes (approx) and stops again!. This happens whether I
disconnect the firewire or not. Please help!! Also, I have tried Ulead video
studio and power producer gold, with the same problem.

Thanks

Hi Eraj
The problem here is not with the software, hence the reason it did the same
thing with 3 different programs, but is hardware related.
I suspect the problem is either the IEEE cable or the expansion card but it
could possibly be the camera.
If you have a friend with a camera that uses firewire then I recommend doing
some component swapping to determine where the problem lies.
Try your camera on his/her computer
If it works then you know the problem is either your card or cable
If it doesn't then you know the problem is likely your camera
Try his/her camera on your computer
If it works then I am confused, unless your camera didn't work on
his/her computer
If it doesn't work then try it again with his/her cable
If that works then your cable is bad, if that doesn't work then
your card is probably bad

Hi Guys,

Thanks a lot for your replies. I got one of my buddies who uses fire wire to
bring his cable over, and connected my Cam, same result. Then we connected
his cam, again the same problem. I guess the next step is to change the card?
What you said in your replies make sense. I didn't have a chance to try my
Cam on his comp, but pretty sure it's not my cam as he never had this prob on
his computer.

I'm running onlt 384 SD ram (128 + 256) Can this be the issue?

Again, thanks for your help. I do really appreciate it

Hello Eraj
384 SDRam is low, especially for video editing, but I doubt that is why your
having this problem.
Before buying a new card though I would try your camera on his computer and
also make sure your capture card is enabled in "Control Panel -> System"
