Can't visit certain websites, even if they are not secure.

I can't visit dell.com or discovercard.com, but another computer on the same
network can. I have tried the security updates and ipconfig /flushdns. This
has been like this for several months.

I have also tried manually adding the correct dns information to my
registry, adding the sites to my trusted list without requiring secure
conneciton, and using firefox.

I have scanned with avg, microsoft anti-spyware, ad-aware, etc.

i get directed to
'http://sea.search.msn.com/dnserror.aspx?FORM=DNSAS&q=dell.com'

the dns for dell.com (from dnsstuff.com) should be:

dell.com. A IN 600 143.166.83.230
dell.com. A IN 600 143.166.224.178

Hi,

If running a cable modem, dsl modem or router, have you, at some point, shut
everything down for a few minutes?

Or, deleting the History and TIF folders may help:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Try disabling third-party security programs to see if one of them is causing
this.
Norton Internet Security?
See if something here helps:
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/nis/nis_2004_info_solve.html
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/nis/nis_2005_info_solve.html

Or start here http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/consumer.html

Or make sure that Windows is showing hidden files and is not hiding file
extensions for known file types then check for a HOSTS file at
[C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc] Open the HOSTS file with notepad. If there
are any redirect entries in it you can put the pound sign (#) in front an
entry to disable that redirect. Or you can rename the HOSTS file to (ie)
HOSTS.OLD
More on the HOSTS file at http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/
and http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

See if there's anything else to try at
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers.htm#dns

Hope this helps,
Don
