can't uninstall

My problem is that the "add/Remove programs" won't ...it
searches for and can't find the "install.log"... I have
forte agent and went to uninstall this newsreader and now
the computer hangs up and the add/remove programs won't
do anything but hang up itself ...anyone have any idea
what the incompatability is or where I might access the
install.log the computer is looking for?

Try right clicking on start>explore look for the program

file and see if you can see something like unwise or
uninstall double click on it to uninstall the program.
If that fails reinstall the program you are trying to
remove and then go to add/remove and try to remove it
from their (reinstalling the same program may replace
missing files which is why you cant remove it now)
The add/remove in control panel is only a shortcut to a
programs uninstall feature that is why you should check
explore first

Hi Gary,

The install.log/uninstall.log usually contains the uninstallation
information about a program. When you remove a program from Add/Remove
Programs, the log files come into play and remove the corresponding software
entries from the registry and the files in the hard disk.

If the LOG files are missing, you may need to reinstall the application
again (in the same path) and then try a clean uninstall again. In some
cases, the application might be removed, but the entries may still exist in
the Add/Remove Programs applet. Orphaned entries are usually a result of a
system restore rollback operation.
