Can't turn on automatic updates under OneCare

I installed Microsoft Steady State and decided that it wasn't
needed for my standalone operation, so I uninstalled it.
Unfortunately, it now disallows running automatic updates
under OneCare. I suspect that I need to change something
using the Group Policy Editor, but I'm not familiar with
using that utility. I am running Vista Home Premium.
Any help restoring that parameter would be appreciated.
I tried Googling, but could not find anything pertinent.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

a. There's no group policy editor in Home Premium
b. How about doing a system restore to before the point you installed
Steady State?
