Can't transfer contacts to new harddrive

I ran W2K, Office XP (OL2002) on 120GB HD (C Drive)(with
Contacts) and used 40GB HD as B/U (D Drive). I'm going to
put this same 120GB HD into a new computer using WXP(after
reformatting) it. Reformatted 40 GB HD/installed W2K &
Office XP (OL2002) and am using the 40 GB HD as new C
drive on old computer. How do I export contacts from the
120 GB HD and import them to the newly formatted 40 GB HD
on my old computer. I followed MS Knowledge Base Article -
287070 instuctions - no luck. I need help please.

There are at least two ways to do what you are trying to do. The first
would be to follow the instructions for exporting the contacts to a
Personal Folder file (.pst) as listed in the article you mentioned. I am
not sure why this does not work for you but there is also another way. The
second method would be to copy the current Personal Folder file (.pst) to
the new harddrive:
1. Open Outlook.
2. Go to View and make sure Folder List is selected, if it is not then
Select it.
3. In the Folder List go to where it says "Outlook Today - Personal Folder"
and Right click.
4. Select Properties.
5. Click on the Advanced button and then write down the path in the
"Filename" field. (it should be something like C:\Documents and
Settings\.......)
6. Close Outlook.
7. Open My Computer.
8. Go to Tools -> Folder Options and Select the View tab.
9. Make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is Selected and Uncheck "Hide
Extensions for known file types".
10. Click OK.
11. Now browse to the path you wrote down in step 5.
12. Copy the Personal Folder file (.pst) and paste it to a disk or the new
harddrive. (this .pst file contains all of the contacts in your personal
folder)
13. To access these contacts you can Open Outlook and go to File -> Open ->
Personal Folder file and select the location fo the file and open it in
Outlook or you can import from it.

I hope this information is helpful.

I have followed these instructions as well and it just doesn't work. This is so frustrating. I can't see or access any data from from original .pst file. I am using Outlook 2000 but does that make a difference?
