Can't send or recieve mail....permissions problem. HELP!!

SFMike

Suddenly I can't send or recieve mail! When I hit the
Send/Recieve button I get the message box saying "You
don't have appropriate permission to perform this
operation." This is weird! This is a home non-networked
computer. I am the administrator. I've tried everything,
even removed and reinstalled Office XP Small Business
2002. How can I get my permission back!

Thanks in advance.

I am presently trying to address a similar problem. I'm
using Office XP & Windows XP and after installing SP3
last weekend I can no longer send/receive email from
Outlook. My ISP (Earthlink) has been unable to correct
the problem. I've tried a system restore with no
success. I even removed Office XP and reinstalled back
to SP1 with no success. Anyone know how to correct this?

Just like Bob this problem also started after installing
SP3. I am also using Office XP ans Windows XP. SP3 has
made my mail secure from myself. I hope someone can help
us as desperation has set in!!!!

Try to create a new Send/Receive group in Outlook. The
article below outlines how to do this:

After further digging I ran across MS Knowledge Base
Article 834365 which led me to suspect that somehow the
settings in McAfee Firewall had been changed from full
access to "blocked" - this was the case and now it works
fine. I don't know how the settings could've been
changed.
