Can't send or receive emails

I've tried troubleshooting and all kinds of things, but can't get my Windows
Mail to send or receive. This problem happened all of a sudden, and I wonder
if it has something to do with AT&T connecting up with Yahoo. ??? This is
the error message that I'm now receiving:

Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol:
POP3, Server Response: '-ERR authorization not enabled', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Please help. Thanks.

I'm having the same problem with the same message - started happening
yesterday. Email kept asking for my user name and password - which I typed
in but It seems to be refusing to accept! - grrrrrr

BTW My ISP is Orange (ex Wanadoo/Freeserve) but it appears from previous
posts that it is a problem on other ISPs too.

If your ISP is different, then your error message can't be the same.

Right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

:I have been having the same problem from SBCglobal.net. I called them and
they said it is a windows problem. In my XP machine, I can send and receive.
On my Vista machine, I can not. Per your suggestion, I deleted and
re-established my account in Windows Mail. I was able to send just one
message (and not receive it), then I get the same error messages I got before
:

Do you have any other suggestions? As I mentioned, AT&T says it is not
their problem......

The best action you can take at this moment is to create a new thread. In
the original question, the server is mail.bellsouth.net, and the server in
your message is pop.att.yahoo.com. The error numbers in the original message
are 0x800CCC90 and 0x800CCC18; the error number in your message is
0x800CCC0F. There are other differences about the error messages. Finally,
since the solution for the other problem does not work for you, your problem
is different.

Create a new thread. When you do, provide some history; what have you done.
Is this a new use of Vista or were you able to use WinMail previously? What
antivirus software are you using?

"Unexpected" termination is usually caused by interference from an
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:
