Can't Send from Media Center

I'm running Windows Messenger 5.1, but for some reason I can't send messages
out from within Media Center. If someone sends to me i will receive their
message, but when I try to reply the reply is never sent. So I also can't
initiate a conversation from within Media Center.

If I minimze Media Center I see a corresponding messenger chat window at the
desktop. If I use this window to send a message, the target receives the
message fine.

Any ideas on how I can resolve this issue. Same behavior on extendeer as
well. Which is a pain since I'd like to be able to chat with my son/daughter
who would be watching TV while I'm at work. They can get my message, but not
reply.

Well, the point is to be able to send/receive messages from within the Media
Center application. Turns out that I've resolved my problem. I've posted a

I am running MCE 2005 and Windows Messenger 4.7.3001 and I tried updating to
MSN Messenger 7.5 and could not get it to work properly. I was told that
MCE 2005 does not support MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger 5.

I cannot access the Blog you listed. How did you get MSN Messenger 7.5 to
work with MCE 2005?

MSN Messenger doesn't work within the Media Center application UI, but will
work outside it. For use inside the Media Center application you need to use
Windows Messenger 4.7.

The two will both install and work on MCE, but you can't login to the same
passport account from both at the same time. Also, you can't have both auto
start at login.

I have MSN Messengeer auto starting at login. A couple of MCX's in the home
login to Windows Messenger for their remote account when they connect. On
the main Media Center computer I manually connect to Windows Messenger while
inside the Media Center application UI.
