cant send emails

juliealison

When I try to send an email I get the following message:

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'test', Account:
'mail.bulldoghome.com', Server: 'smtp.bulldoghome.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
25, Secure (SSL): No, Error Number 0x800CCC0B.

I haven't had any problems sending email in the past, the problem seems to
have occurred when Windows Live replaced Outlook Express, my ISP says its a
microsoft problem, I can send emails from bulldoghome page, but not from
windows mail. I have tried sending on a different computer and get the same
message, so it cant be a computer problem. I have windows vista. Would
appreciate any help.

Are you using Windows LIVE Mail or Windows Mail to access the account?

You're not sending via the SMTP server when you send from the webmail page.

0x800CCC0B - BUSY
Server or maildrop is busy

Then again, see if disabling email scanning by your anti-virus application
resolves the problem.

Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email

Thanks for replying.
I'm using windows mail to access the account. Does this mean the problem is
with the smtp server? If so, how do I resolve it?
Have tried uninstalling Windows One Care but didn't make any difference.

The ISP is lying! I had the same problem, the smtp address for former bulldoghome customers has changed from smtp.bulldoghome.com to smtp.bulldogdsl.com

I had the same problem as you and this has now been resolved.

Would be nice if they'd let everyone know and updated their online documentation!

Thanks so much for responding, I've made some progress after many frustrating
hours getting nowhere! I changed the smtp as you advised and no longer get
the error message. However when sending a test email it went into my sent
mail box but didn't arrive at the recipient's address. Any suggestions?
Also, do you know if the 'my server requires authentication' box should be
checked or unchecked? Desperately awaiting your response.

Given that the address you sent it to was correct, the error would be on
their end if you see it in your sent folder and yet they didn't receive it.
If the address was incorrect, you should get a mail notification in your
inbox expressing that fact shortly after you send (the receiving mail server
will send that notification of no such recipient).

Since your sent message put a copy in Sent Items, that means it was
accepted by the outgoing server, and hence your settings are correct.

What happens when you send a test message to yourself?

J

I sent a test message to myself which again went into my Sent Items, but I
didn't receive it in my Inbox.

I've spoken to PipexUK who say that since I can send and receive a webmail
from PipexUK.com then my set up is correct. They have advised me that the
windows mail must be corrupted. Since changing to smtp.bulldogdsl.com I
don't get an error message, so just have the problem of why I'm not received
the test mail I send.

Are they saying that since you can use webmail, your Windows Mail setup is
correct? The two are different, except for username and password. There is
much more in the Windows Mail account email setup that does not exist for
and is not used by webmail.

Incompetent support people will say weird things if they don't have an
answer.

Thank you all for trying to resolve my problem. I'm totally disgusted with
the support I didn't get from Pipex and am now in the process of changing my
service provider.

Hope you do find a better ISP. In my research into this issue I found
quite a few complaints about Pipex.
