I am having problems sending emails using Microsoft
Outlook. I have it set up to import and export my email
through my comcast email account and it imports them fine
but it won't send any messages in my outbox. Any
suggestions other than the pop 3 and smtp settings? I
have tried this and they are correct. I get the message
that I need a 530 authentication.

It sounds like the outgoing SMTP server is wrong or you
need to authenticate. Let me explain, sometimes ISP or
INternet Service Providers use a different SMTP server for
authintication on outgoing mail. (i.e. smtp.comcans.net
might not be correct for authintication on outgoing mail.)
I had this with earthlink onece. I had to contact there
support which gave me the correct smtp server name for
authintication of outgoing mail.

It sounds like you are NOT on their network (domain) for Comcast when you
are trying to use their server. Since you have not configured your e-mail
client to authenticate to Comcast's server, Comcast has no clue who the hell
you are. You are just some unknown joker coming off-domain trying to abuse
their SMTP server without authentication and without an account with
Comcast.

Your choices are:

(1) Be sure your e-mail client is connecting to the Comcast network (to
prove you have an account with them) when it tries to use Comcast's SMTP
server.

(2) If trying to access their SMTP server from off their domain, in your
e-mail client under the outgoing server (SMTP), configure it to authenticate
to the Comcast's mail server by specifying your Comcast username and
password.

Are you set up as:
Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.comcast.net
Incoming mail (POP3): mail.comcast.net ?
Most of the other comments I could find on this regard using FTP and a few
were email problems that were temporary and went away. Others that I saw
were involving only sending to Yahoo address.
Sorry no direct answer !

If Comcast is requesting authentication, check the option in your account to
authenticate to the outgoing server.
