I am using Outlook 2003 SP2.

I can receive email from MSN and AOL yet when I respond or send a new email
it bounces back with the erorr message:

SMTP error from remote server after transfer of mail text:
host mailin-04.mx.aol.com[205.188.156.249]:
421-: (DYN:T1) http://postmaster.info.aol.com/errors/421dynt1.html
421 SERVICE NOT AVAILABLE

cyndimm,
As the link in the error message states, that the ISP or Mail Service that
you are using to send the mail is being blocked, because of complaints from
their customers, in most cases because of Spamming.

You need to contact your ISP or E-Mail service, and find out what they are
doing to have AOL stop blocking messages sent from them. Until then, you
may have to get another email account such as yahoo, to send mail to those
addresses, namely (e-mail address removed) ones.

Rich, thank you so very much for the fast and clear explanation! I somehow
got a virus last week and my hard drive had to be erased and rebuilt from
scratch. I'm going out of my mind trying to get life back to normal -- the
email problem is driving me insane.

Thanks so much again,

Cyndi

Cyndi,
The virus may have turned your PC, into a Spammer, or sent copies of the
virus to every one in your address book. So you need to find a way to
convince AOL that you are virus free.

Try sending a message to AOL explaining about your virus problem, and that
you have fixed it at:
