cant send email in Windows Mail today began receiving 550 error ms

Have used Windows Mail with Vista Home Premium system for more than a year
with no problem, but today can receive but not send email.

Installed all Windows updates
On advice of Comcast, changed Port from 25 to 587 - made no difference
Created new mail account - made no difference

Why would this suddenly be a problem?

Anyone have a fix for this, please email me at: (e-mail address removed)

Thanks.

1. ) If you have never been told about Internet Safety, go to your local
library and read about it. One of the GOLDEN RULES is : NEVER NEVER give
away your e-mail address to people you don't know or trust.

2. ) The idea of a newsgroup or forums is to help people with computer
questions, and that people with the same problem will be benefited by
reading the answer(s). It is not a private tutor venue. Answers will be
posted in the newsgroup, no where else.

3. ) Now back to your question.
Send yourself a test message. If you are unable to receive as you stated,
you will have an error message after you have sent it.
Post the entire error message , verbatim. Only way to fully understand your
particular problem.

I am experiencing the same problem here in Austria since today. My Internet
Service Provider made all kinds of checks, and also told me that he had heard
about this problem from 2 or 3 other customers. I was advised to consult
Microsoft, which I will do on upcoming Monday.
Would be intereresting if other people could post here if they have same
problem.

I shall throw away my diplomacy of which I am sorely lacking.
Which part of my following message you do not understand ? ...............

It is unlikely that you have "the same problem". The symptoms might seem to
be the same, but sregina1 did not describe the problem adequately enough to
know what the problem is or even if the symptoms are the same. Is your ISP
Comcast? I doubt it, and that is adequate evidence that your problem is not
the same.

What you need to do is to create a new thread (discussion) for your problem
and in the new thread paste the exact error message after copying it from
Windows Mail. If the error message is not in English, then you can try to
translate it, but if you do then still provide the exact message
untranslated. The only modification to the message you should make is to not
provide the complete email address if it is in there, but do provide the
part after the @.

I think you are being reasonable, except I am not sure it is possible to
send "yourself a test message" if someone has just one email address.
Perhaps it would help the others if you can explain that. If it works to
send a message with the same emaill account for both sender and recipient,
then I would be surprised and perhaps you could say it should work.
Otherwise I assume that two accounts would be required.

Yes, I can send myself a message within the same account. Did that a lot of
times when I had smtp error message.
