Can't select DCC and other optionsin 'Network and Dial-up connecti

Hello.

I want to connect two computers using DDC (Direct Cable Connection). The
guest computer is running windows 98 and the host computer is running windows
2000 pro. However, that is not the problem because I did such connection
before.

When I select 'Make New Connection' in 'Network and Dial-up Connections' and
click Next, I come to the 'Network Connection Type'. Here starts the trouble:
I can't select the following items: 'Dial-up to private network', 'Connect to
a private network...' and 'Connect directly to another computer' (that's what
I need). They are gray (can't do anything with them).

Can anyone please tell me what do I need to do (i.e., start some services?)
to enable DDC connection there?
