Comment:

I found a trojan after scanning with trojan remover. The trojan is
called WINREG.Start and is on my C:\_RESTORE\TEMP\A0020447.CP$ file and
when I use my anti trojan it can't fix anything...NAV doesn't even see
it so what do I do to get rid of it. Because when i go to delete it, it
won't let me because it says it might be in use.

Now i was told to DISABLE my system restore and that should do the
job, but my problem is that i went into me windows ME and found that the
system restore was already disabled, so what do i do next to get this
thing out?

LOL! This does not at all suggest that the virus "targets S/Restore."
This is not a confirmed issue, but simply a statement by whoever wrote
the letter. It proves *nothing*

Besides, almost always, whenever you get infected, subsequent restore
points are also infected. Regardless of what the letter-writer says
and thought was happening, my very strong guess is that that was all
that was going on with restore points.

It's good to see you've managed to keep your interpersonal skills and
communications skills from advancing in any way. ANY letter from anyone
may indeed "prove" many things; just not what a person might want it to
prove. Your definition of "prove" is one which you can rationalize
until your pigs come home but you'll never find anyone else that agrees
with you on the complete definition as you rationalize it.

And now, back to your usual self-rationalizing silliness:

If S/R is not targetted, then how come that when many folk turn to S/R to
help,
they find that the S/R points are all wiped out?
It's an obvious place to target, because of the loop effect,ie: unless
S/R is turned off,you can't get rid of the virus.
That's why I never use it.
A properly Firewalled and protected computer that doesn't go to dodgy
sites, is unlikely to ever get infected.

People turn to SR because it says "System Restore". How magical!

You might as well call if "Fix All my Screw Ups and the Problems I
Have Inflicted Upon Myself".

When some folks have a problem they usually do not bother to even
specify, they think SR is some kind of time machine and it is the
first thing they try when it should probably be one of the last things
to try. I have never used it either, but have tested it before just
to be sure it did work. Properly configured and left to its own
devices, it is quite innocuous.

Now these poor folks have a new problem to go with their original
problem - SR doesn't work either or made things worse and needs
fixing. Please enter crisis mode.

It is seemingly a chronic problem and while the temptation is to be
helpful, it is sometimes more amusing just to sit back and watch ten
people all suggest ten different things as the situation deteriorates.
