Can't remove temporary internet files

Dan

I am having some significant problems with pop ups and
have used all the recommended software (especially Ad-
Aware) to remove all remnants. Unfortunately, that is
doing no good and it is at its worst.

Before I reformat my hard drive, I want to try one more
thing. I have various files in my Content.IE5 folder that
cannot be deleted, and I think they are part of the
problem. the file names are this:

122354686@Headerspon,Pagespon,LocalAd,Explore1,Explore2,Exp
lore3,Explore4,Explore5,Explore6,LocalSite1,LocalSite2,Loca
lSite3,LocalSite4,LocalSite5,LocalSite6,LocalSite7,Loc[1]

There are various files with a similar name and I cannot
delete them. Can anyone help?

Dan,
There's NO need to reformat to fix this.

Update Ad-aware and run it again.
Download spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ update it and run it.
Try BHO Demon from http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm
Remove suspicious objects from [C:\WINDOWS(or WINNT)\Downloaded Program
Files.

Re: the ContentIE5 folder, when you clear the cache (IE> Tools> Options>
General> Delete files, be sure to check "Delete offline content."

If unsuccessful with all of those steps, see:
http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ for instructions on how to use HijackThis and
the forum at http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Regards,
Don
