can't remove registry items

I have two Dell Inspiron 1100 XP Pro laptops that are loading a lot of junk
at startup. I tried removing each item via the actual application. For
example, Quicktime, MusicMatch, and Dell QuickSet. However, after reboot
these items still load. So I tried removing from the registry (i.e. Run
folder) but they still come back. I am running Webroot Spy Sweeper
Enterprise and McAfee Anti-virus and both scans tell me the PCs are clean. I
also tried msconfig, when I rebooted not only did the programs still load but
when I reopened msconfig I had new entries for each of the items I unchecked.
What I mean is that there was an entry that was unchecked for QuickTime and
a new entry for QuickTime that was checked. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,
Robert

Did you look at this

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Yes, I was trying to remove from HKLM, not HKCU. I will try HKCU when I am
at the computer tomorrow.

OK, just checked HKCU and it only has one entry for msn messanger in it. It
is HKLM that has all the persistent programs.

Thanks,
