can't receive mail

I am suddendly unable to receive mail, but I do manage to send it. I use
Avast antivirus. I have registered with Freepops because I use an
"@libero.it" account which wouldn't be able to use otherwise through WinMail
with ADSL.
The error I get is:

Account: 'popmail.libero.it', Server: 'localhost', Protocollo: POP3,
Risposta del server: '-ERR AUTH FAILED', Porta: 2000, Protezione (SSL): No,
Errore del server: 0x800CCC90, Numero di errore: 0x800CCC92


Can you please help me?

The part that says "Server: 'localhost'" means that a third party program
is interfering with Windows Mail. I suppose that would be the FreePOPs.
Unfortunately we can't provide support for third party programs.
