Can't open web pages, saved as "html only"

S

Simon I

Here's something odd.

I have saved some web pages as "Web Page, html only".
Then, when I am not connected to the Internet, I try to
open them from Windows Explorer, using any of
- select the file, File, Open
- double-click the file
- right-click, Open

Most times I get a white IE6 page and the message "The
Web page you have requested is not available offline. To
view this page, click Connect", with Connect and Stay
Offline buttons. I click Stay Offline and the page opens
in IE6 OK

Sometimes though I get a transparent IE6 window with just
the frame - title bar, scroll bars, etc and the same
message. I click Stay Offline but the page is not
displayed, IE stays open and I have to close the window
to continue.
If I try the page again a few seconds later it generally
opens OK, but sometimes I have to try the page several
times before it opens.

Looks like a bug to me, but have anyone got a work around?
Using IE 6.0.2800 plus updates

TIA
Simon

"The Web page you have requested is not available offline. To view this
page, click Connect"

This message is normal if the page you open has links to other sites.
The links when save as .html only are not saved to your cache.

As for the other problem it may be an TIF index problem.

Remove your TIF index , a new one will be created.
Delete/Empty Temporary Internet Cache completely
How To: and with most operating system.

Save it as Web Archive instead
