Cant open jpegs off of desktop

For some reason whenever I try to open a picture in
mircrosoft picture and fax viewer it wont open it.
it will only open a picture thats in a folder, if its on
the desktop directly it wont open, I get "preview not
available" if I make a new folder and move it into the
folder then it opens fine...
I can open the picture in any other program, just not
Picture and fax viewer. They are Jpegs.
PLEASE HELP!!!

Maybe some of the following info will solve your problem:

Go to the following site and scroll
down to the bottom of the page.
"Music, Video, and Photos"

Try this:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.
