Can't (Open in New Window). Opening a page in a new window, doesn't work.

O

okayama

I have both IE, and Netscape running on Win98 se. Netscape
does not encounter these problems.

You know that feature when you right click on the mouse and
there's an option to (open in new window). Mine doesn't
work anymore. The window pops up, but it freezes the moment
the window pops up. Also when I click on a link that
requires a new window to open, I get the same results. I
can use my first window all I want with no problems, but
once a new window opens it freezes. Then I get the messege
to send a error report to microsoft. The part that's really
hurting me is, I can't do the windows update anymore cause
of this. Right after I pick the updates I want to install,
and then click the ACCEPT tab to begin the installation, I
get (WINDOWS UPDATE IS DOWNLOADING THE UPDATES TO BE
INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER. PLEASE WAIT.). The update is
about 4MB, on a cable modem. It never starts the download,
just freezes up. I need to get this working again so I can
do the windows update again. Please somebody help me and
take a shot at this problem.

I don't know if this will help, but this is on the error thing.
AppName: iexplore.exe
ModVer: 4.71.2900.2
AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106
OffSet: 00040894
ModName: rpcrt4.dll

I've updated and ran Norton AntiVirus, Adaware, and Spybot.
Adaware and Spybot removed alot, and Norton found two
virus's(Java.Nocheat(dummy.class), and
Trojan.ByteVerify(verifierbug.class)). Norton failed to
delete or quarantin the virus's. These two virus's infected
an IE file. It was in two places.

C:\RECYCLED\NPROTECT\00000469.CAB

AND

C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5\6F67ETQV\counter2[1].cab

I just did the delete Norton Protected files with the first
one. I'm not sure If I did the second one right. I went
into the .cab file and deleted the two virus's. Now I've
had the (open new window) problem before I deleted the
viruse, and I still have it after I deleted them.

Anyone know what I need to do to fix this problem (open new
window). I need to do the windows update badly, and I can't
do it until I fix the problem.

Never mind, I got it. The copy and paste was messing
something up. I had to type it manualy.
