Can't open certain web sites

I have two computers that are both running Windows XP Pro for their
operating system and IE 6.0 for their browser. When I try to open Yahoo.com
I get the error message that this page cannot be displayed. If I use my AOL
account I can open this site with no problems. This is also happening with
other web sites as well. I have a laptop computer that is running the same
OS and browser and I am having no problems with it. Is there anyone else
that is having similar problems? If so what is the fix??

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Check for a file named HOSTS with no extension (not Hosts.sam). It may be a
hidden file. Open it with Notepad and remove any line referencing the site.
Or, rename HOSTS to OLDHOSTS

Thanks Frank,

I did what you said and can now at least get to the Yahoo home page. I

still can not get to the ESPN site though. Is there anything else I should

do?
