Can't load Addins

I've loaded Office Enterprise 2007 and now every time I open Powerpoint I get
the message "Powerpoint couldn't load the addin C:\Programme File\Microsoft
Office\Office\aware97.ppa". Powerpoint (2007) seems to work ok but it's
really annoying to get this warning each time. I've tried adding addins, but
there aren't any to select from. Any help?

where does this Addin come from? It looks as if this Addin was written for
Office 97 (because of the name ...97.ppa). Maybe there is a newer ppa
available. I guess that Powerpoint 2007 can not cope with an Addin for
Office 97.

If you do not this Addin any longer you can go the folder and move the
ppa-file to another location.

Try Office Button | PPT Options | Add-ins. You can probably disable it there
by clicking "manage add-ins."

Peter,
PPT 2007 seems to have migrated your existing entries in the registry for
add-ins from older PPT versions. Check in the registry in the following
locations for entry corresponding to aware97.ppa and delete them.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\PowerPoint\AddIns
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\PowerPoint\AddIns

disable. Any other suggestions? P

Shyam - many thankd for your suggestion, but there aren't any addins listed

Hi steve - I've searched the registry and found a folder or files Path
REG_SZ C:\ProgrammeFile\MicrosoftOffice\Office\aware97.ppa. I followed this
and found a file called PPT Tools Microsoft Powerpoint Addins (472KB). The
properties say that the author od this is "An exulted Microsoft Office Fan".
To me that seems a bit odd!!

Hello Steve - I do seem to be in "exulted" company!!
I found the file in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Powerpoint\Addins\OCRWARE.
Clearly this all means something to you, but like DOS at one time I see the
registry a bit like the drains of a house - totally necessary, but not
something you want to play in unless you know what your doing! (Which I
don't).

you found
this entry in the registry. That's the next thing to let us know about.

Most likely you'll be able to delete the keys that point to this file and
be done
with the thing, but let's be sure it's safe first.

Done as you've said - but now I get "Powerpoint couldn't load the add-in"
when I fire up PPT

YER BEAUTY!!!! Success at last! Last time I just deleted the ‘Aware97’
line, but having deleted the whole OCRWARE file (?) I get a clean start on
PPT – and the simple OCR programme I use still works!
Many thanks Steve and to all others who contributed.

PS The canine dino suit is available in large human size – I’m wearing mine
now as a celebration!
