How do I obtain a Valid product Key to install win xp service pack 1, as my product key says it is invalid my product ID is 555274-640-0000356-23193. According to the Microsoft licencing web page it says that these product codes with 640-0000356-23 in the middle of the product code will fail. How do I overcome this to be able to download Service Pack 1 for Windows XP?

Adam;
You need to buy Windows XP, you are using a stolen license:

Greetings --

Are you trying to install Service Pack 1a and getting the
following:

The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q326904

You need to purchase and use a _legitimate_ full retail copy of
WinXP Pro to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation,
using the new CD and Product Key.

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade of Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=KB;EN-US;Q315341

Remember, you should also report whomever sold you the pirated
software to the pertinent law enforcement agencies; you've been
defrauded.

Thanx Bruce, My boss actually Purchased XP pro from overseas for me I thought the cover looked a bit dodgey. I think he got it on a stop over in asia some where, so I can 't really dob him in for piracy. But I will take your advice and purchase a legit copy and perform the repairs you suggested.
