Can't install indicated non critical updates

After scanning for updates, I show no critical updates
required, but eight (8) windows updates, "Windows XP
(8)", but if I select this, "Windows XP (8), I again get
the "Welcome to Windows Update" window, and the selection
to "Scan for updates". It will never show me the non
critical updates or let me choose to install them, it
just continues in this loop forever.

If there are ever any critical updates, I can select and
install them with no problem.

Any help would be appreciated.
