Can't import external data in Access 2003

I'm trying to import a spreadsheet into a new Access 2003 database.
When I try to get External data, the only file types listed are:
Access, Sharepoint, XML, and ODBC. I tried reinstalling Access and the
issue remains. Any suggestions on how to add this? BTW, I've worked
on previous versions of Access and never had this issue. Thanks in
advance

When you installed the program did you go to CUSTOMIZE and then in the
options for installation select INSTALL ALL TO MY HARD DRIVE? Just a thought
but your installation may not have included those if you went the path of
just letting Access be installed with a "typical" install. I find it
interesting if that is the case as it really shouldn't be that way but that
was my thought anyway so I thought I would share that as a potential answer.

Actually a correction from my previous post:

that would be RUN ALL FROM MY COMPUTER not hard drive...

When I tried the install (the second time) I selected the "Install on
First Use". I saw that this was removing files and cancelled the
install. On my third try, I selected the "Run all from My Computer"
for every option. Still no luck. I'm thinking there's maybe a
registry issue or a DLL that's missing, but I'm not sure.
